WWE Ratings Discussion

Recommended Posts

Coming of the WWE TLC PPV and featuring the return of Mr. McMahon, the 12/14/15 edition of RAW averaged 3.88 million viewers. This is up significantly from last week's 3.054 million viewers. The hourly numbers are as follows:

Hour 1: 4.043 million

Hour 2: 3.786 million

Hour 3: 3.825 million

Wow I guess the buzz around the Roman Reigns incident worked well. They even kept the third hour strong which is normally always a major downfall, very good week for the WWE. That's a massive ratings boost and realistically the real rating will come next week now that fans know Reign's is the champion and a lot of the fans that tuned out will come back to see what happens.

Monday's episode of WWE RAW, with the 2015 Slammy Awards, new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns plus a steel cage main event with Sheamus vs. Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose, drew 3.376 million viewers. This is down 13% from last week's 3.884 million viewers. Taking out last week's show, it was the most watched episode since the October 5th show, which averaged 3.378 million viewers.

For this week's show, the first hour drew 3.443 million viewers, the second hour drew 3.374 million viewers and the final hour drew 3.316 million viewers.

RAW was #4 for the night in viewership behind the NFL on ESPN, which drew 10.901 million viewers, Major Crimes and SportsCenter. RAW was #4 for the night in the 18-49 demographic, behind the NFL, SportsCenter and Love & Hip-Hop.

As noted, ratings for last night's WWE RAW will be delayed until Wednesday due to the Christmas holiday.

However, Deadline reports that the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Denver Broncos Monday Night Football game scored a season-high 10.5 overnight rating. The MNF season finale also drew a huge 44.2 overnight rating in the Cincinnati market and a 42.0 in the Denver market. It will be very interesting to see how Vince McMahon, John Cena and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns did up against big competition from the NFL.

It will also be interesting to see what WWE announces for the January 11th RAW from New Orleans. RAW will face huge competition that night as the College Football National Championship game airs on ESPN at 8:30pm EST.

As noted, WWE announced Sheamus vs. Reigns with the title on the line and Vince as special referee for next week's RAW from San Antonio.

Well it seems as Lesnar is advertised for January 11th raw

That could work, but I think they will need to announce some big matches to sell it more. Maybe conclude the Owens vs Ambrose rivalry here? Considering the Rumble will most likely have Cena vs Del Rio, Reigns vs HHH, the Rumble match itself, New Day vs Uso's and a women's title match, it doesn't seem like they will be given a lot of time. It seems like a better idea to give them face off on this raw for the title in some kind of hardcore match instead of being give little to no time at the PPV.
