WWE is apparently looking at possibly bringing back Jimmy Wang Yang and Curt Hawkins along with other past talents and high-level free agents as the company looks to bulk up its' active talent roster for the upcoming WWE Draft / Brand Extension.

As noted, Jimmy Wang Yang was backstage at Monday's edition of RAW, where he noted that he had a meeting scheduled with Vince McMahon. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Wang Yang and Hawkins are both guys WWE is looking at bringing in, with the idea being they still have name value and name recognition from the past, which can be used to put over and help elevate up-and-coming talent.

In related news, WWE is also reportedly interested in signing Lucha Underground stars Volador Jr. and Rush. As noted last week, WWE has also expressed interest in Lucha Underground star Prince Puma (Ricochet).

The WWE Draft / Brand Extension is scheduled to take place on the first live Tuesday edition of WWE SmackDown, which goes down live on July 19th.

th WWE bringing former General Managers back to television to hype the upcoming brand split, one name that fans have been talking about is Eric Bischoff.

In recent weeks, WWE has been bringing back many former General Managers from SmackDown’s past such as Teddy Long, John Laurinaitis and Vickie Guerrero. However, we haven’t seen many of the former General Managers from Raw’s past. It was announced by WWE that Vince McMahon will be returning to Monday Night Raw this Monday.

While WWE is changing the title of its authority figures from General Manager to COO (Chief Operating Officer), a lot of fans want to know if Eric Bischoff will return for a role or at least an appearance before or after the brand split. Dave Meltzer addressed the possibility in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

One would think, since Eric Bischoff has a DVD release, that he should be in this role either doing the cameo, or bringing Long, Laurinaitis, teasing Kane and Vickie, could lead to something bigger for Bischoff because it wouldmake bringing all those people back make more sense than just the repeating of the same angle like they’re doing. It’s been more than a decade since he was a regular on WWE TV and he is a great television character. Plus, if you want to have a different show with a storyline adversary role to the McMahons, Bischoff doing the right kind of character, and a character he could easily pull off, and would be as good as anyone I could come up with. Plus, the COO title they are using means it should be a less comedic role and someone more believable in upper management.

The rumors eventually got to Bischoff himself and he shot down the prospect on Twitter on Thursday.

Bischoff has apparently since changed his tune on the idea. On Sunday night, he responded to a question on whether he would ever run SmackDown, and said, “Stay tuned….its @WWE. Anything can happen.”

NoDQ.com > WWE > Bischoff Shoots Down ReturnChances Again
Posted by Steve Carrier on 07/12/2016 at 01:34 PM

As noted earlier, Eric Bischoff seemed to shoot down the idea of once again being an on-screen WWE General Manager over the weekend, writing on Twitter that it was “not going to happen.” Bischoff was the RAW General Manager from 2002-2005, and seemed to later soften his stance about returning to the company in that role, writing, “Stay tuned….its @WWE. Anything can happen.”

Bischoff has now clarified his comments on Twitter:

Apologize for any Misunderstanding/misleading anyone. Anything CAN happen @WWE, but it won't involve me! I'm a fan! https://t.co/8v5ABMTRSG

The Wrestling Observer has a follow up on the story that Tommy Dreamer was backstage at this past Tuesday’s Smackdown tapings.

The note that while WWE is interested in bringing Dreamer back to WWE for the brand extension the contract that WWE wants him to sign would mean he could not do his House of Hardcore promotion.

NXT was in Louisville, KY on Saturday night for their last live event before Tuesday's WWE draft. After the show, Finn Balor teased fans that he may be a part of the draft to determine the RAW and SmackDown rosters.

The show was headlined by an 8-person tag match where the team of Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, American Alpha & Bayley defeated Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe, The Revival, Alexa Bliss. After the match, Balor grabbed the mic and asked the crowd if someone left a door open because he "feels a draft." Balor also said that we'll see everyone who performed in that match at WrestleMania events in the future.

WWE is bringing back Rhyno and Brian Myers to work on the main roster. The current plan is for the two stars to be paired as a tag team and work on the SmackDown brand. Keep in mind that plans change all the time in WWE.

Myers worked in WWE as Curt Hawkins from 2006 – 2014. During his time with the company, Myers won the WWE Tag Team Title once. Rhyno’s first stint with WWE was from 2001 – 2005. He returned to WWE last year and worked both in NXT and on the main roster. Also, Rhyno recently worked the July 6th NXT TV tapings.

Wow this should be interesting, Hawkins and Rhyno as a tag team could be great as heels and i think they'll probably feud with the hype bros

Nah, i think they should be part of SD's midcard. Add a little more depth and star power into it, cause they really need it. And why waste names like them to feud with Hype Bros? Lmao.

Well for one Hawkins and Ryder used to be tag partners so Hawkins could be thinking that Ryder replaced now i know its been a while since they tagged but it'd be interesting to see Rhyno as a heel come out to assist Hawkins and Gore Rawley and Ryder not to mention it'd be great to see the hype bros get destroyed by Rhyno and Hawkins.

So they're bringing back Curt Hawkins who was just the drizzling shits and destined to be on superstars for life. Jinder Mahal is rumoured to be coming back too and well remember what he was before he left... Rhyno is fine, Tajiri fine. But come on surely they can do better than Hawkins and Mahal lol and possibly Jimmy Wang Yang.

Teddy Long claims that MVP and Shelton Benjamin are set to return to WWE. Long was a guest on the Gerwick Report Podcast and said he had run into MVP at a recent show, where he says MVP revealed that he and Benjamin are set to undergo medical testing which would be followed by a return.

Now this has not been confirmed by MVP or benjamin, in fact MVP seems to be denying it but that just makes you wonder, could they be trying to cover it up?

Tajiri proved at the age of 46 that his in ring work is still just as, if not even more crisp and up to point with the younger guys on the roster, and his kicks are still lethal too. So you could say I'm very happy to see him back in the WWE, and I hope there's a championship or two in his future. As for the others, I'd say Hawkins is good enough to help round out a decent mid-card but other than that I'm not too fussed about him.
