Ropati's Sport Report

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm Ropati and like sports and want to talk about them so I've made this topic.

I'm mainly going to write about basketball and football (soccer) but if there's something big enough in another sport I like I'll talk about that too. Sometimes there'll be multiple posts a day and sometimes there'll be 1 post a week it just depends on how much news there is that I care about. My first post will be thoughts on the biggest free agent moves so far in free agency.

Free agency has been crazy with so many different big free agents moving so I thought I'd give my thoughts on the biggest moves so far.

image.png\

Holy shit what a rebuild from Brooklyn from being laughed at by everyone due to the trade they made with Boston back in 2013 costing them players such as Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Colin Sexton. Sean Marks managed to turn the Nets from an embarrassment to not only the best team in New York but if KD comes back around the level he was at before quite possibly the best team in the NBA. The only negatives I can see coming from this is that Kyrie is apparently toxic in the locker room and the Nets could have horrid team chemistry like the Celtics did last season and Kevin Durant might never be fully healthy again but I can't see signing these two backfiring, The question now is will the Nets be champions in 2021?

 image.png

Now let's talk about Kyrie's replacement in Boston, Kemba Walker. How did the Celtics manage to pull this off then? I thought this season would just be full of watching the youngsters slowly get better and they'd be a 7 or 8 seed but then out of nowhere they've managed to execute a sign in trade with the Hornets with had them sending Terry Rozier to the Hornets to get a crazy overpay and in turn they receive Kemba Walker a top 5 point guard right now. My first question is, is Kemba worth the max? At first, I wasn't sure I mean the highest he's ever finished in a season is 6th in the weak east as well, but then I saw that both Khris Middleton and Tobias Harris were getting maxes so in that case Kemba deserves one. Now in terms of how the Celtics will do I see them being around the same as this year with a 3-5 seed and then a second round exit.

image.png

Now let's move on to the biggest shock we've seen from free agency so far. D'Angelo Russel to the Golden State Warriors in a sign and trade that sent Kevin Durant the other way. Genius stuff from the Warriors to get something from KD and whether they move D'lo now or not this is a great move from them regardless. I for one hope the Warriors hold on to D'lo cause I feel him, Curry, Draymond, Caulie-Stein and Klay once he's healthy could be quite a fun team. Obviously, the backcourt lacks defensively but let's just forget about that for now. In terms of how I see this team doing it really depends on where Kawhi goes because if Kawhi goes to the Clippers then I can see the Warriors finishing in the third seed and then from there they could go out in the 2nd round or win the NBA finals who knows. Now if Kawhi goes to the Lakers then they'll lose to the Lakers in either the 2nd round or Conference Finals, and if Kawhi goes back to the Raptors then I see the Raptors winning it all so They'll finish anywhere from being eliminated in the 2nd or losing in the finals again.

image.png

For the last move, I'll talk about lets head to Miami to talk about the Jimmy Butler sign and trade. I'm not gonna talk about the 76ers side of this today but I may in another post, Pretty much the Heat have sent Hassan Whiteside to the Blazers, Josh Richardson to Philly, Maurice Harkless who they got from the blazers and a future first to the Clippers and they've received Jimmy Butler and Meyers Leonard.  Pat Riley just managed to pull off some magic and somehow he brought Jimmy Butler to Miami. The loss of J Rich will hurt the Heat but getting Butler in return makes it so worth it, Butler should be able to drag Miami to the 6th or 7th seed in the east. Getting rid of Whitesides horrid contract can only be seen as a win and I do now wonder if they'll get another decent FA like maybe Boogie?

That'll do it for this post and boy has Free Agency been good so far my next post will most likely be about Kawhi and where he goes then I'll grade each team's free agency that is unless something big happens before but we'll see.

KAWHI AND PAUL GEORGE ON THE CLIPPERS? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. As an OKC fan, I now want to die as our star player has fucking left us, at least we got something this time. I'll take about the Thunder side of things another time but as for the clippers they are now the favourites to win the 2020 NBA Championship. Kawhi, PG, Lou Will, Pat Bev plus Shamet and others is a championship team no doubt. I feel bad for the Raptors since now they're not going to be that good but they won a ring last season so you can't feel that bad. Kawhi and Paul George is a dream duo and they will fuck shit up together but who else is now ready for LA vs LA conference final. Anyway I'll make another post talking about the Thunders side of things another time but now the Clippers are the favourites to become 2020 NBA Champions and I'm going to say now they're going to do it Kawhi is a monster Paul George is coming off his best season, that's a championship winning team if I've ever seen one.

Why the Paul George trade isn't nearly as bad for the Thunder as many think.

I know what you're thinking "what a surprise the Thunder fan is saying the trade isn't that bad for the Thunder". Lets break this trade down properly first the Clippers receive Paul George which makes then championship contenders instantly but the Thunder got good pieces for PG as you would expect no only did they get SGA who's a good young player but that also got Gallinari who averaged 20 points last season and 7 1st round picks. Now the Thunder have got options they could either

  1. trade some of these picks and Dennis Schroder plus Adams or something for another star like say Bradley Beal

  2. trade Westbrook and do a complete rebuild
  3. do nothing and see how this team does which could be ok since Westbrook could play like an MVP again and Gallinari could be solid as well as a second scorer.

Either way i can understand why they would do any of these options but i hope i've shown that this trade really wasn't as bad for the Thunder as seems it was especially when you remember Paul George requested a trade and wanted to leave. Anyway this'll be my last post of the whole Paul George trade thing up next i'll be grading each teams free agency so see you then.

I know i said i was going grades teams free agency next but we got bigger things to talk about so.

My Thoughts on the Russell Westbrook Trade.

image.png

The Rockets knew that they weren't going to do anything with CP3 and Harden now so they've taken a risk and traded for Westbrook adding another dynamic duo to the west like jesus christ the west is wide open and I love it. If you ask me there's 6 different teams I can see winning the west they are, The Lakers, The Clippers, The Jazz, The Nuggets, The Warriors and The Rockets and whats crazy about that is 2 of those teams are going out in the first round. I'll be honest the Rockets weren't on that list before this trade which is why I like this trade for the Rockets in terms of a win now trade now in terms of the future well the Rockets better hope they still have solid players after Russ and Harden get old.

image.png

The Thunder are in full rebulid mode and its working if we're being honest they've racked up 11 first round picks a 3 solid players for Westbrook and Paul George. If they don't trade Chris Paul which is very unlikely I could see this team making the 8th seed in the west with Paul and Gallo leading them, Paul can now run the offence again which he couldn't do in Houston. Now I see Paul going to Miami as they'll be desperate to get someone to pair with Butler and I won't be surprised if the Thunder get another first round pick. But to end it on my thoughts of the Thunder side of this trade. We bouta dominate in 2030.

So the craziness of this offseason has inspired me to go back to last years offseason a review and regrade the 2 biggest trades that happened last year.

Jimmy Butler to the 76ers for Dario Saric and Robert Covington

this trade is an interesting one as at the time it looked like a great trade for 76ers as now they were contenders in the east with a big 3 of Embid, Simmons and Butler and they got to hold on to Embid and Simmons in the trade for an amazing player in Butler. This trade was looked at as slightly disappointing as they turned down multiple draft picks from the rockets for Butler. now one year later and this trade is seen much differently for the wolves Covington was solid for them when healthy and they managed to move Saric and there pick for Jarrett Culver which was a great pick. Meanwhile for philly they had a 2nd round exit due to some bounces and then Butler left to Miami and they only got J Rich.

So the grades no have to change with the Timberwolves getting a B and Philly getting a B- as they still got J Rich and Horford with the cap freed up by Butler leaving.

Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green to the Raptors for for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, top-20 protected pick.

This was a huge trade at the time as is still huge to this day and it changed the NBA as a whole. The Spurs gave up Kawhi for Demar Derozan two men you never thought would leave there respected teams but here we are. For this trade is meh as while Demar was solid in the regular season he choked playoff time and let the team down vs the nuggets especially when it came down to it in game 7, Jakob Poeitl was also crap and it makes you wonder if the Spurs could've got a better trade for Kawhi. Meanwhile for the Raptors this trade was a complete win as even thought they lost both Kawhi and Green this offseason they won the chip last season which i think is all they wanted. Kawhi was a monster come playoffs and Green did what he had to do and without either of them Toronto gets no ring.

So now the Raptors go from A to A+ doesn't matter than they lost Kawhi they got the chip so A+. For the spurs this is a C as it lead to a first round exit and I feel they could've gotten something better for Kawhi that what they got looking back now.

I feel like what you have said here is pretty accurate. However, the Spurs weren't able to get much for Kawhi as it was public that Kawhi wanted out. I feel like considering the situation they did well to get De Rozan. The Timberwolves I feel like took a massive L in the Butler trade. It is kind of hard for them to attempt a rebuild when you have KAT.

yeh upon thinking on it following a nights sleep i think i'll change the spurs to a B- as like you said there wasn't much they could do but i feel like they still could've got something better and gone more with the rebuild path instead of trying to contend again. As for the Timberwolves i think while they could've gotten something better for Butler they still did ok getting Ro Co and Jarrett Culver from the trade if you really think about it. While I do agree its hard to rebuild with KAT he is only 23 and if there's any point in his career when his team should be rebuilding it's now.

So on my intro post i said i'll talk about multiple different sports not just NBA so its time for a different sport and today i'l be reviewing the first gameweek of the premier league

Liverpool 4 - Norwich 1

image.thumb.png.357192b47bf78d5d2c73a8c4

While i expected a similar score to this going into this match I was not expecting Liverpool to be as poor as they were. Liverpool had a great first half and a horrid second half and quite frankly were lucky to only concede 1. At the end of the day however, Liverpool were clinical and and destroyed Norwich 4-1. Allison did go down hurt which will hurt them but against Southampton it shouldn't bother them. As for Norwich they should get at least a point vs Newcastle at home

West Ham 0 - Man City 5

image.png.7ded939a71fa34f3b2fcea95e87b38

No surprise here as my favourites and everyone else's favourites to win the league dominated West Ham away. Sterling netted a hat trick and was unlucky to not get an assist as well due to his armpit being offside. I wouldn't be too worried for West Ham as it was Man City they were facing and they should fare much better against Brighton. For Man City next up they face Tottenham it what should be a very exciting match.

Bournemouth 1 - Sheffield United 1

image.png.f33aa410da1174c99526da4fe32d7b

I'm very disappointed with Bournemouth following this match having Sheffield United who look like one of if not the weakest team in the Prem at home should be guaranteed 3 points yet here they are drawing 1-1 with there squad fully healthy. For Sheffield this is huge as every point will count for them and who knows maybe we'll look back at this at the end of the season as the game were Sheffield got that crucial point that ended up keeping them up. As for these teams upcoming matches Sheffield have a good chance to get some more points facing Crystal Palace at home and Bournemouth have Aston Villa away in a game they could also get some points from.

Burnley 3 - Southampton 0

image.png.e5b1075eed76158e7bce381cd61d2a

Huge win here for Burnley and a huge loss for Southampton. These are both teams I think will be battling around the relegation zone this season and this could also be seen as a huge game come end of the season with Burnley getting a big win at home off a Barnes double. I think Southampton are going to get another loss this weekend when they face Liverpool at home and Burnley also seem likely to follow having to go to the Emirates to face Arsenal in a tough challenge.

Crystal Palace Everton 0

image.thumb.png.64a93ebfcc14a4d7cf874f2c

For both teams I wouldn't say this is a bad or good result but both teams will also be disappointed with the fact that they didn't get the 3 points from this game. Everton because they are better than Palace and these are games that if they want to get at least 7th they should be winning. For Palace with Everton going down to 10 men and them being at home they'll think that maybe they could've gotten all 3 points. For Everton next they face Watford at home in a game I back them to win and for Palace they've got Sheffield away in a game they should really get at least a point.

Watford 0 - Brighton 3

image.png

A quite surprising win for Brighton here in my opinion as I was pretty confident Watford would win this match. Brighton ended last season on horrid form and people did think it would continue but they've started there season of perfectly beating a solid mid table team 3-0 away as well. Next they face West Ham at home in a game where they should just make sure they get at-least a point to keep the momentum going. As for Watford this is the worse case scenario for them and with Everton next things could just get worse from here for them.

Tottenham 3 - Aston Villa 1

image.png

A 3-1 win for Tottenham was quite expected going into this game but what was not expected was Aston Villa going up 1-0 and being the better team after the first half of football. However that is what happened after John McGinn scored following a defensive error from Danny Rose. Tottenham looked stale and pale of themselves until Christian Eriksen came onto the pitch and instantly changed the game and put it into Tottenham''s favour. Soon after Eriksen's arrival new boy for Tottenham Ndombele scored a wonderful goal on his debut to make it 1-1 then Harry Kane struck and scored twice to give Tottenham a now comfortable win. For Villa this game has to be seen as a positive as they played great defence in this game and took one of the best teams in the Prem in Tottenham to the max. Next up they face Bournemouth at home and don't be surprised if they pull out a win in this game. For Tottenham up next they have the toughest game of the season in Man City at the Etihad in which they'll have to play like they did in the last 30 minutes and not the first 30.

Leicester 0 Wolves 0

image.png

A game that I was quite looking forward too as a battle between the two of the best of the rest. Sadly we instead just got a very boring game that had some controversy when Wolves had a goal disallowed due to a handball. Now you can't blame VAR for this as VAR is only made to enforce the rules and the rules state that any goal that involves a handball in the build up of the goal is disallowed. So if you have a problem with the rule thats fine but don't blame VAR. Next up both these teams have top 6 opponents and I could see either of them pulling out a good result against both of them so get prepared for a possible upset.

Newcastle 0 - Arsenal 1

image.png

A pretty simple routine win here for Arsenal here as they beat Newcastle 1-0 thanks to Aubameyang. Newcastle showed promise in this game and I do think they'll manage to stay up this season despite having Steve Bruce as manager. Next up they've got Norwich away in a game they should try and get at least a point from but with Bruce as manager who knows. Arsenal have Burnley next at home in what should be a guaranteed win for the Gunners.

Manchester United 4 - Chelsea 0

image.png

I had low expectations for Lampard but I didn't think it would be this bad this was pretty much the worse result possible for the blues to start the season. However in the first half Chelsea were the better team and were unlucky not to have a goal as they hit the woodwork twice. But when Chelsea started to push up more to get a goal Manchester United countered amazingly and thats how they scored there last 3 goals. Up next Manchester United has a tough game in Wolves which they could differently win but I would be surprised if they drop points and Chelsea face Leicester in a game where I would not be surprised no matter the result.

Well thats it for my gameweek 1 premier league review sorry that its slightly late but hey atleast i made it i'll try and get the next one out earlier.

So with 2k20 dropping tomorrow i'm more hype than ever for the NBA season to begin so I thought i'd rate my top 10 NBA players going into this season (so no KD since he's hurt)

10. Damian Lillard

giphy.gif

Before the NBA playoffs began this spot would most likely belong to Kyrie Irving who I did see as the 2nd best PG in the league however after the playoffs Lillard has taken this spot that's from a mix of Lillards great first round and Kyrie's not so good playoffs. Now Lillard can't go any further than this because after the 1st round he just disappeared. He just destroyed the Thunder and dipped C.J carried him through the 2nd round and then the Warriors killed Portland in the Conference Finals.

9. Joel Embiid

giphy.gif

Joel Embiid is an incredible player and could easily move higher than this on the list if it wasn't for his injury concerns. In his 2 "healthy seasons" he hasn't played over 65 games. This also continues in the playoffs as he missed a big game vs Toronto in round 2 and he wasn't healthy for really any of the playoffs and you can make the argument if he was healthy Philly make it past Toronto and then they match up well vs the Bucks so they beat them and then with Warriors injury problems that happened in the finals Philly ends up winning it all. Instead they went out to a filthy buzzer beater and Embiid needs to learn how to stay healthy and until then he stays here.

8. Nikola Jokic

giphy.gif

Pre playoffs I might have given Embiid the edge over Jokic but Jokic brought out a new beast in the playoffs averaging 25, 13 and 8 an improvement over the 20, 11 and 7 he averaged in the regular season. Jokic is a definite MVP contender this upcoming season and is currently the best centre in league. The Nuggets have a great franchise star to lead the young Nuggets forward and if the whole team keep up the constant improvement don't be surprised if they win a championship soon with Jokic being a finals MVP.

7. Paul George

giphy.gif

Going into the NBA season George was nowhere the top 10 but then he had a MVP candidate season averaging 28, 8 and 4 and you could even argue if he didn't get the shoulder injury he couldn't been the MVP of the league. Now due to the first round exit the Thunder suffered he can't go any higher than 7 but following his trade to the Clippers he's now on a legitimate title contender along side another player in my top 10 Kawhi Leonard in what is one of the most terrifying duos in the league.

6. Anthony Davis

giphy.gif

While injuries forced him to drop down the rankings this season Anthony Davis is still an amazing player that should not be slept on. In a season many are calling disappointing from Davis he still averaged 26 and 12. Now that he's got his ideal move to LA he and Lebron are about to do some serious damage. Davis could differently win the MVP this season and get right back in to that top 5 in the league but due to him missing out on the playoffs and having a worse season than the people above him he stays here.

5. James Harden

giphy.gif

To begin the top 5 we have the reigning runner up to the MVP award James Harden who's coming off his best ever season statically. He averaged 36, 7 and 6 and if his teammates stayed healthy he could've ended up winning the MVP award which would have pushed him up to 4 on my list. However being the 5th best player in the league is nothing to cry about as it still means he's a top player in the league and without question the best Shooting Guard in the league. The pairing of him and Westbrook this season will be interesting but I have faith it'll work out for at least the regular season.

4. Giannis Antetokounmpo

giphy.gif

The reigning MVP in the league the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo (thank you google) Giannis was the best player in the regular season this past season and the only thing keeping him here is his lack of a solid jumper but he seems to be improving that quite a-lot. He averaged 28 12 and 6 in the season which is absurd. If the Bucks can make the finals this season or if Giannis can go back to back with the MVP awards then he should go up in this list but for now he sits at 4.

3. Steph Curry

giphy.gif

The best shooter of all time Steph Curry ranks in at 3 on this list if he managed to lead Golden State to victory in the finals then he would be ranked 2nd but he fell short and so he stays at 3rd. For the past 3 seasons Curry's taken a bit of a step back to let Kevin Durant shine but now that KD's gone and Klay out for now its Curry's time to shine and he still averaged 27, 5 and 5 last season despite having Klay and Durant on his team so I see no reason why Curry can't average 30+ this season which might be enough to keep him above KD when he returns next season.

2. Kawhi Leonard

giphy.gif

Instead of looking at this like 2 look at it more like 1B Kawhi had a solid regular season averaging 27 and 7 but the big question was about the load management which had him sit out 22 games and if it would work. And well it did Kawhi played every game for the Raptors in a incredible playoff run averaging 30 and 9 along side leading the Raptors to the championship and winning Finals MVP. He's also the best 2 way player in the league and most likely the best defensive player in the league. I'll go more into way he's second on number 1's post but Kawhi can definitely take the number 1 spot if he beats the Lakers in the playoffs this season or just gets another chip.

1. Lebron James

giphy.gif

They don't call him The King for no reason, it says a-lot about Lebron that in a season where he missed the playoffs he's still the best player in the world. My main reason for this is if Lebron was on the Raptors team Kawhi had and everything that happened (such as KD and Klay getting hurt) still happened would he win the championship and my answer is yes. Lebron averaged 27 8 and 8 last season was on track to take the Lakers to the playoffs before his injury which he rushed back from. This season will be a test for him however because if he does poorly again then he will drop from number 1 and he'll have no excuse this time.

That's it for my list what's your list? let me know. Got anything you want me to answer? let me know. Next up could be another premier league review, it could be a NBA season predictions or my top 10 for each position in the NBA.

It's time for another NBA top 10 list and today i'm gonna rank my top 10 point guards. Please not this is going into this season so no John Wall cause he's hurt.

10. Kyle Lowry

giphy.gif

This number 10 spot is close between Trae Young, De'Aaron Fox and Lowry but Lowry takes it because he's the only one who made the playoffs and he won the finals averaging 16 and 7. He can't go up in this list however as he only averaged 14 and 9 during the season. Now with Kawhi gone Lowry is back to being the 2nd option behind Pascal Siakam and if he can up his numbers again he'll rise up this list.

9. Chris Paul

giphy.gif

Paul is another player who almost missed out on a spot on this list but I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he's made the playoffs the last 9 seasons and was the arguably the best point guard before the Steph Curry rise. While Paul only averaged 16 and 8 last season I'm putting that down to his injury and playing with a James Harden who was a monster last season. It seems alot of people forget that if Paul doesn't good hurt in game 6 vs the Warriors in 2018 he most likely leads the Rockets to the championship.

8. Mike Conley

giphy.gif

Conley had arguably a career best season last season averaging 21 and 6 on a not so good Memphis team. Now Conley has gotten his trade away to a top team in Utah and has made them contenders right away. Now due to Memphis missing out on the playoffs this is as far as Conley can go but if Utah are a top 6 seed and Conley puts up similar numbers he can rise up these rankings.

7. D'Angelo Russell

giphy.gif

D'lo had the best season of his career last season averaging 21 and 7 on his best ever percentages from the field and 3. While his stats are similar to Conley he edges him out due to the fact that he lead his team to the playoffs and was an all-star. D'lo now goes to the Warriors in a sign and trade that included KD going to Brooklyn. While he'll most likely not play point guard this season with Curry being his team mate he still played point guard last season making him one in my book.

6. Ben Simmons

giphy.gif

Simmons had another great season last year averaging 17, 8 and 9 on 56% from the field while the 76ers got to the 3rd seed again. While Simmons did do worse in the playoffs compared to last season that can be put down to the fact he had Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris on his team this time out and even with them there he still had an incredible 31pt games vs the Nets. While Simmons is a great player with high potential he has one major flaw that holds him back from becoming an elite point guard which is his lack of shooting. As of writing this Simmons hasn't hit a single 3 and is coming off a 60% free throw performance last season. Until Simmons can show some sort of shooting in the NBA he'll sit around the 5-6 range.

5. Kemba Walker

giphy.gif

Kemba is coming off an incredible season for the Hornets averaging 26 and 6 as he tried to carry the Hornets to the playoffs. He made the All NBA 3rd team and was an All-Star starter giving him the chance to get a supermax contract from the Hornets however instead they underpaid him which was a blessing in disguise for him and then the Boston Celtics swooped in and signed Kemba and saved him from the horrid team known as the Hornets. If Kemba can perform how he did last season again but this time for a playoff team then he'll raise up the ranks unless everyone above performs better.

4. Russell Westbrook

giphy.gif

Westbrook was the number 2 or number 3 point guard in the league going into this season however drops in his 3 point shooting and free throw shooting from 34% to 29% in just 2 seasons and 84% to 65% in 2 seasons. Now Westbrook still had a very impressive season averaging a triple double for the third season in a row but due to the Thunder finishing as the 6th seed and then getting embrassed by Damian Lillard and performing bad in the playoffs Russ sits in 4th. Now Russ goes to play with his best friend James Harden in Houston and if he can prove he can play well with another superstar and do well with Houston then he will go up on this list.

3. Kyrie Irving

giphy.gif

Going into this season Kyrie was the 2nd or 3rd best point guard in the league in my eyes and was looking ready to lead the Celtics to at least the conference finals if not the finals. Things did not go like that however as the Celtics had serious chemistry problems mainly caused by Kyrie himself. Kyrie had a solid regular season averaging 24 and 7 but in the postseason things got bad as while he still averaged 21 and 7 which is solid he did it on 38% from the field and 31% from 3 which is dreadful. Now Kyrie had moved to Brooklyn to be with KD but with KD out this season Kyrie has got another chance to prove he's more than just a robin and if he can do that then he can easily go back to number 2 on this list.

2. Damian Lillard

giphy.gif

While Dame was for me the 4th best point guard going into this after a great regular season and post season averaging 26 and 7 in the regular season and 27 and 7 in the entire post season. On top of that he lead the Blazers to the 3rd seed and ended the Thunder big 2 of Paul George and Russell Westbrook averaging 33 and 6 including a big 50pt game 5 with a dirty game winner. Now what stops Lillard from even challenging number 1 is the fact that after round 1 it seemed he just tired himself out and disappeared vs the Nuggets and Warriors. Now the only way I could see Dame getting number 1 on this list is by leading the Blazers to the finals.

1. Steph Curry

No surprises here as Curry should be number 1 on everyones current day point guard list. The best shooter we've ever seen and the only ever unanimous MVP as well as a three time champ. Curry averaged 27 and 5 in the regular season last year and 28 and 6 in the playoffs as well as 30 and 6 in the NBA Finals as he tried everything he could with all his teammates it seemed being hurt. The only way I could see Curry losing this spot is if the Warriors miss the playoffs with no injuries apart from Klay suffered and he performs badly and unless that happens I think Curry will stay here at number 1.

Well thats my top 10 PG's list. Let me know your list. Next up will be the top 10 Shooting Guards but until then goodbye.

I mostly agree with your list, Ropati, but personally, I would have Lowry higher after his performances last season and I'd also have Simmons a few places lower. Other than that, this list looks good to me for now but it's about to be shook when LeBron starts running the point.

Yeah fr, everyone sleeps on Lowry but he's a solid second star, his defense is better than most on that list, and on top of that, he's a championship point guard which only a few can say on the list.

So after a 4 month break Ropati's Report is Back. Now i'll try and make this active again to start the new year. Now today i'm going to rank my top 5 in the MVP race right now.

5. Jimmy Butler

No one saw the Miami Heat being the 3rd seed halfway through the season and credit has to be given to the team especially to Jimmy Butler. Jimmy has been an incredible leader to this young Miami side. Now while being a great leader and having a good record is nice and all you still need to have the stats to back up being in a MVP race. Jimmy is average 20pts 7 rebounds and 7 assists this season along side 2 steals and 0.5 blocks and just great defence in general. While his efficiency has been quite low this season i let him off due to his much improved rebounding and playmaking.

4. Lebron James

Lebron yet again is proving age is just a number as he's 35 fresh of a injury that he suffered last season and he's putting up great number with the best record in the west. Lebron is in an interesting position this season as while he usually played SF or PF he's playing PG this season. Now the idea of Lebron at PG always sounded great as many thought he'd just be like Magic, however no one was really sure if it would actually work. You can't argue with results however and Lebron is showing results as he's averaging 25pts 11 assists (leads the league) and 8 rebounds a game. These numbers are incredible at any age but at 35 its just inhuman.

3. Luka Doncic

Similar to No one expecting Miami to be as good as they were, no one expected Luka to be as good as he is apart from maybe delusional Mavs fans (@Flynn). Luka similar to Lebron did not play PG last season and made the switch this season. While I don't know if its the switch to PG or just a general improvement because of it being his 2nd season in the NBA but Luka's having a great season averaging 29pts 9 assists and 10 rebounds. His MVP stock is dropping down however due to the Mavs losing more games and dropping down from the 2nd seed to the 6th seed.

2. James Harden

After the incredible season Harden had last season many thought he would drop off a bit with Russell Westbrook joining him and replacing CP3 and his partner in crime. However Harden is somehow playing even better than last season averaging 38pts 7.5 assists and 6 rebounds alongside 46% from the field and 39% from three. The efficiency only seems to be getting better as well as in the month of December he shot 48% from the field and 42% from three. Combine this with the fact that he's doing it all with him being doubled every play and that the Rockets are tied 2nd in the conference he has a very good case to be the MVP and most seasons he would be.

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

However with the season Giannis is having right now you can't put anyone else above him. Before we even get into the stats the Bucks are currently on track for 67 wins which is impressive on its own but combine that with the fact that no one else on the bucks is even a star and Middleton is only a borderline all star. Now onto the stats Giannis is averaging 30pts 5.5 assists and 13 rebounds along side a steal and a block. Giannis this season has also developed a solid 3pt shot this season averaging 34% this season on 5 attempts per game. So combine all of that together and Giannis is definitely current first in the MVP race this season.
