Who Do You Think Has Had The Best Nickname In Sports History?

Recommended Posts

For me I think it’s “Magic” for Magic Johnson. He’s one of the greatest players to ever play the game and the best passer to ever play in the NBA. Magic comes from his magic passes that people would never think about. Everyone calls him “Magic” now some people probably don’t even know that Magic isn’t his real name lol

Slight out-of-field pick but I adore the "Korean Zombie" moniker for Chan-Sung Jung, an MMA fighter. He is like a zombie in the octagon as he's always on the front foot and takes the fight to his opposition regardless of skill differential or how many shots he has taken. Chan-Sung has has nine fights in the UFC, winning the majority and earning bonuses in seven of those fights.

Shaq. Arguably one the most physically dominant player in league history, just a shortened version of his name. It has a certain intimidating quality to it right? Which i find fitting, since O'Neal was the kind of guy who managed to impose his will on other enormously large human beings night after night. I also like The Big Aristotle which he seems to enjoy as well.

Iron Mike Tyson. Also called "The Baddest on the Planet,"he began to garner the nickname "Iron" for his toughness and seemingly total resistance to go down. Iron in the modern age would seem very overplayed but Tyson it is simple and makes him seem twice as badass as he was in the ring.

‘The Refrigerator’  William Perry. Funnily enough this is a nickname i found out first because of the WWF but knowing the history of him as a player you can tell how fighitng it is. A defensive lineman for the Chicago Bears and an absolute monster on the field so his nickname is pretty easy to understand. One of the few worthy celebrity WWE Hall of Fame inductees.
