Trigger Trae!

Recommended Posts

Early on in the 2019/20 NBA season, the league has been lit up by a young guard by the name of Trae Young. In his Sophomore Season, the praise for Young has skyrocketed. With every coach around the league knowing how good he is, and trying as hard as possible to lock him up. However, recently Trae Young has expressed his disappointment with the team. As John Collins has been banned for the use of PEDs, and nobody else is stepping up to help the young star. It has gotten to the point where Trae has requested a trade, and these are the three offers being considered by the Atlanta backroom staff.

Trae Young & Evan Turner ------> Pascal Siakam & Marc Gasol
Trae Young & Evan Turner & Brandon Goodwin ------> Devin Booker & Aron Baynes
Trae Young & DeAndre Bembry -----> Ben Simmons & Zhaire Smith

What trade will the Hawks decide to make?

I think this is a pretty easy choice. I’d go with the Ben Simmons Trade. Simmons is a superstar in the making and it will be interesting to see him on his own team where he is the key offensive player and the team would be built for him and Trae Young will get a chance to play with the 2nd best center in the NBA, He also fits on the 76ers really well.

After Trae Young announced he was unhappy with Atlanta. The backroom staff of the Hawks worked hard overnight to get a trade done. In the end it would be the front office of the Philadelphia 76ers who would accept, trading Ben Simmons for Trae Young. Ben Simmons himself has had a slow start to the season. And many critics are suggesting that the 76ers would have been unable to win a title with Ben Simmons running their point. Following the trade, these are the projected starting fives for the 76ers and the Hawks.

76ers - PG - Young, SG - Richardson, SF - Harris, PF - Horford, C - Embiid
Hawks - PG - Simmons, SG - Crabbe, SF - Hunter, PF - Parker, C - Jones

After his trade, Trae Young struggled for the rest of the season. Picking up slight injuries and never managing to get back into the flow of things. He missed out on the all-star game despite his impressive numbers, averaging 26 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists per game. His play combined with the ever impressive play from Joel Embiid was good enough to help the 76ers to a 60-22 record in the east. Securing them the number 2 seed in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Ben Simmons wasn’t as lucky in Atlanta. Despite making the all-star game and being named in the All-defensive 2nd team, his Hawks team missed out on the playoffs with a record of 30-52. Ben Simmons averaged 18 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists on the season. He also managed to break his career high with a 39 point performance in a 129-131 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

MVP - Giannis Antetokounmpo
ROTY - Ja Morant
6th Man - Kyle Kuzma
DPOY - Kawhi Leonard
MIP - Luka Doncic

1st Round

Los Angeles Lakers 4-0 Golden State Warriors
Denver Nuggets 0-4 Minnesota Timberwolves
Los Angeles Clippers 4-3 Utah Jazz
Houston Rockets 4-1 Phoenix Suns
Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 Miami Heat
Toronto Raptors 2-4 Indiana Pacers
Boston Celtics 4-3 Brooklyn Nets
Philadelphia 76ers 4-2 Detroit Pistons

In the first round, Trae Young would show everyone he has what it takes in the playoffs. With a game 1 explosion of 46 points. He took a backseat to Embiid when needed and also proved the pair could work together with devastating effect. In the round Trae would average 28 points.

Conference Semi-Finals

Los Angeles Lakers 2-4 Minnesota Timberwolves
Houston Rockets 0-4 Los Angeles Clippers
Milwaukee Bucks 4-2 Indiana Pacers
Philadelphia 76ers 4-0 Boston Celtics

Once more Trae Young and Joel Embiid would destroy their opposition. With every single game involving a huge performance from one of the two. In game one, Trae Young would put up 38 points to go with 10 assists. Games 2 and 3 would be run by Joel, with Trae offering help. Before Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris would both show up in game 4 to get the sweep.

Conference Finals

Los Angeles Clippers 4-0 Minnesota Timberwolves
Milwaukee Bucks 4-3 Philadelphia 76ers

The impressive run for the Sixers would again end in seven games. This time though in seven games. Trae Young and Embiid would try their hardest, but they were unable to hold the back to back MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo and former all-star Kris Middleton. Overall in his first ever playoffs, Trae would average 25 points and 6 assists per game.

NBA Finals

Milwaukee Bucks 2-4 Los Angeles Clippers

Finals MVP - Kawhi Leonard
