Rumour Regarding Brock Lesnar's opponent for Wrestlemania 36

Recommended Posts

Quote

Right now, the current rumor going around is that Brock Lesnar will be facing either Cain Velasquez or Tyson Fury at Wrestlemania 36. Alex McCarthy of TalkSport.com noted the following regarding the rumors:

As far as Lesnar goes, WWE are looking at two options. One would see him face Cain Velasquez in what the company would bill as a ‘rubber match’ as Velasquez dethroned Lesnar for the UFC heavyweight title in MMA and Lesnar defeated Velasquez on his WWE debut at Crown Jewel in October.

However, if Tyson Fury beats Deontay Wilder to become the WBC heavyweight champion of the world, the allure of having a boxing world champion face Lesnar is expected to be too much for Vince McMahon.

Lesnar is expected back on WWE television in January to set up a match for the Royal Rumble PPV.

Brock Lesnar facing Tyson Fury or Cain Velasquez at Wrestlemania 36 sounds like it's not gonna be a title match. That makes me think that Lesnar is gonna lose his title at the Royal Rumble unless WWE suddenly decides to not defend the title at mania or they suddenly decide to give a title shot to someone who doesn't deserve it. I know this is not confirmed yet so i'm not gonna get into it more.

I think if Brock is going to face Cain or Fury at mania, surly he drops the WWE Title at the Rumble because there is no way i see them doing either match for the biggest title in the company. If they are going with this route, hopefully he losses the WWE title to either Drew or Orton at the Rumble, and then have his program with either Cain or Fury. If its against Cain, I'm sure Cain will get his win back and get the ball rolling for his WWE career. Personally, i wish they didn't go with route and go with something and that's Brock vs KO at mania for the title as that is the match i would love to see and would be more beneficially.

Ok if these are the rumoured opponents for Brock then please god get the title off of him sooner rather than later. Both Cain and Tyson Fury in WWE have been major busts and seeing them once again fight at Mania and with a title on the line I just don't think would be a good move at all. In saying that I also have no interest in seeing Brock fight any of these two at all. Brock should realistically kill Tyson Fury and we already saw Brock beat Cain in about 2 minutes a couple of months ago. Just let Brock face someone who's actually going to benefit the company a couple of years from now, not some celebrity star who's only going to give you short-term media attention

I would have Brock drop the title to Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble before he faces Tyson Fury at WrestleMania. That's an amazing scenario where McIntyre gets a reign as champion and even potentially a main event against someone like Owens or something like that. If Lesnar vs Fury happens for the WWE Title, that's a huge slap in the face to everyone who works night in and night out.

WrestleMania this year, but it won’t be against the subjects of recent rumors.

Recent rumors said that the current WWE Champion would face off against either Cain Velasquez or Tyson Fury at WrestleMania in order to give the card some mainstream appeal. However, that won’t be the case. The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required) reports that neither of the combat sports stars are penciled in to face Lesnar.

On the bright side, Lesnar is currently set for the biggest card of the year barring any injuries. So, expect to see Lesnar stick around in WWE for the foreseeable future rather than going back to UFC.
