It was the night after the Over the Limit PPV, The Rock made a surprise appearance for the first time on Universe Mode. He stated that he was proud and happy to see the superstars put on such a fantastic PPV the night before and “he wouldn’t of changed anything”. One man took great offence to that and that was Randy Orton, who wasn’t on the card for Over the Limit. Orton challenged The Rock to a match at Vengeance and the match was to be contested inside Hell in a Cell. Orton was so livid with The Rock that he wanted The Rock gone from the WWE for good, Orton wanted to prove a point to the WWE Universe that he was still the top superstar on Smackdown, The Rock was rearing to go for perhaps one last time.
Both men competed in what was considered the greatest match in Universe Mode history. The match was a long, brutal heavily contested match, both men hit many finishers on one another and it seemed as though either could of walked away as the victor. However it was “The Great One” The Rock who emerged as the winner, The Rock had completed his dream come back, his return was a successful. However, with The Rocks success, came Randy Ortons demise and the end of Randy Ortons career. Well, so we thought.
Fast forward to November, The Rock had been destroyed week after week by the hands of the Authority and their champion Brock Lesnar. The Rock wanted his revenge he wanted his payback against the men in charge, which in turn a 3 on 3 Survivor Series tag team match was announced. Little did The Rock know, Triple H had a extra card up his sleeve, the “retired” Randy Orton was Triple H’s third man for his team. Orton and The Rock would continue their rivalry as they stepped in the ring and squared off once again at Survivor Series, with The Authoritys team getting the victory and Orton receiving a little bit of revenge on The Rock.
The Rock announced that he would retire if he could not win The Royal Rumble match, he felt as though the world was against him and he had no chance of achieving glory in the WWE anymore, now that he has made an enemy in the Authority. The Rock was in the final four in the rumble match, where Randy Orton came out at #40 to stop The Rock from winning the rumble match. Randy Orton completed his comeback by winning The Royal Rumble Match, earning himself a title opportunity at Wrestlemania 30.
The Rock was saying his goodbyes and was preparing to ride off into the sunset, but was interupted by Randy Orton on the RAW after the rumble. “You are under contractual oath, you are obligated to compete if we see fit” Randy Orton challenged The Rock and The Rock was forced to accept the match or face legal action by The Authority. Orton sweetened the deal for The Rock by offering him his main event spot if he could defeat him, but he would be forced to leave the WWE for good if he lost.
Will Randy Orton get his vengeance and finally send The Rock packing, or will The Rock upset the world and pursue his dream of once again becoming the WWE Champion at Wrestlemania 30.
